The Fat Guys On A Little Podcast and family, tend to go on alternative health adventures from time to time. We are going to chronicle all our adventures on here and let you know what we thought was worth the time and what was not. Of course, we also discuss these adventures on our weekly podcast which you can listen to every Sunday!
Floatation Therapy Sensory Deprivation Tanks
Charles of the Fat Guys On A Little Podcast, is a huge fan of Joe Rogan and his podcast. So naturally the first stop on our alternative health journey was flotation therapy. The place chosen for us to float like Baloo the Bear was the Float Institute in Sterling Heights, Michigan. For $55 we signed up for one session each for one hour.
The next adventure led us to Cryotherapy in West Bloomfield, Michigan at Orchard Fitness. For this particular trip Heather joined us for the fun. For about $25 each, you go into a freezing tube with just your underwear, a pair of crocs with socks and a pair of gloves. What happens is the temperature is then dropped to a -320 degrees for about three minutes. If you are on the shorter side, there is a platform they use to raise your head above the fumes because those can be toxic.
Massage Green Spa
A few weeks ago, Michelle and I went to the local Massage Green Spa. We did talk about the massage trip on Episode 38. For a while, I was having some bad back pains, so I decided to have my first ever professional massage. Of course, Michelle wanted to go because she always loves massages. For two 30 minute massages, they charge $30 each which is pretty reasonable.
2 Person In-Home Sauna
Recently as described on Episode 29, Charles has installed an in-home 2 person Vittoria Infrared Sauna from Costco. Why you may ask, and Charles will tell you, why not? There are some health benefits to using a daily sauna. The first benefit of a sauna is to increase circulation. They are also known to help reduce cardiovascular disease as well as help with weight loss. More benefits are to flush toxins and relieve stress
Valhalla Krav Maga
Krav Maga is self-defense and physical training that was developed by the Israeli army in the 1940s. So Charles is a huge MMA fan and decided to sign us up for an intro training session at Valhalla Krav Maga. The owner Don is the main trainer and for your intro training session only charges $20 each for the one-hour training. Valhalla is associated with Krav Maga Worldwide and the trainer is a certified trainer.
